This is Gabe Turner's video review of The One Minute Millionaire by Mark Victor Hanson and Robert G. Allen. He says, this book is "half fiction and half non-fiction. It's a great concept for a book because many times we need to hear things in more than one way in order to grasp them. I've found stories to be one of the most effective ways to learn and teach from." Expectation, Anticipation and Belief
“If you have confidence in your lure, you will catch fish,”
says one of the millionaires interviewed by Thomas J. Stanley in his book The Millionaire Mind.
The degree to which you believe in what you're providing for your customers is a sure sign of how well they're going to respond.
This isn't an excuse for diving in on a mere hunch, avoiding research or adequately planning. If you think about it, you'll believe in it a whole lot more if you've tested it, measured it and planned things properly, of course. There is a very real sense in which you get what you expect. This might sound all too metaphysical for some people but since there are some very real, measurable instances in quantum physics that have taught us that matter responds to our expectation (making 'facts' about things such as locality and movement almost nonsensical), we might pay heed to the idea that our expectations can determine actual outcomes. Even if you remain unconvinced by the quantum ideas, you would almost certainly acknowledge that if you expect something to work, you'll put effort into it. If you put effort into something, you're more likely to get a good result than if you don't put effort in - true? Then, even if the first attempt fails, if you return to the challenge with an expectation that you can turn things around - are you more likely to turn things around (than if you did nothing) ? Of course. So, you'll get what you expect... eventually... if you don't give up. Ancient scriptures in one place talk of, 'Faith AND patience.' And in another, 'I will show you my FAITH by what I DO.' Faith is rarely enough on it's own. Of course we can always cite times when things DIDN'T turn out as well as expected. But such results should lead us to a place where we learn anew what we need to have in place to provide us with fresh confidence. This is not a matter of blind faith. Have you ever noticed this? Would you be happy receiving a deliverable like the one on the right having been sold the promise of the one on the left? I wouldn't either. So, what expectations are you creating in others, especially your customers by your words of promise? Are you delivering to them?
So, what is it you actually believe?
What are your true expectations? Are they grounded in solid evidence? Are you following words from a credible authority? ...or just dreaming? Dreams are good. Many dreams come true. But let's ensure we are WORKING towards expectations that can believe in.
Beliefs and expectations are crucial - if you're one of those who believe in 'affirmations', ensure you're doing things right by reading the TEAM ME blog post: Making Affirmations Work.
It all starts with VISION. There is no progress without a picture in mind of a better future - something to aim for. “Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul; the blueprints of your ultimate accomplishments.” ~ Napoleon Hill If you have a nice vision, and persist in working towards it, you will get a nice result. If you have an AMAZING vision, and persist in working towards it, you will get an AMAZING result! So, on a scale of 0-10, how do you rate your vision? Is it compelling, exciting, powerful... or not so much? Is it so vast that you couldn't possibly do it all yourself, couldn't possibly fund it yourself? If you have no vision, what exactly are you working towards? It's wise to look ahead and check if the river you're paddling leads to an ocean or a sinkhole! Take time to go back to the dreams of your youth. What first gripped you then? What about that dream could still hold true today? Make sure your VISION brings you alive. If it doesn't, go and get another VISION! I'm sure you've heard this quote from Goethe before but take time now to read it again. And don't just read it... chew on it, mull it over, squeeze the juice out of it, drink it! Few people are familiar with the full quote - here it is for you now so you can get, not just a fuller context, but insight into the genius that lies behind the often repeated last verse: “Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back — concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: That the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.“ ~ Goethe Mere dreaming can have you fooled. We dream of what we want and yet the very things we need to have happen DON'T happen because we've kept the dream inside our heads! YOU have to manifest your thoughts. Place your dream in front of you - define the END you are aiming for, then TAKE ACTION. Take the first step. Sometimes the first step is to research - if knowledge is the issue.
Sometimes the first step is to write your commitment down - if motivation is the issue. Sometimes the first step is to reach out to someone - if a lack of skill is the issue. Define that first step and DO SOMETHING. Then, ensure you hold you r dream before you daily. The NEXT STEP will soon appear and you'll then do what? TAKE ACTION again. Persist in this way and you'll soon have accomplished amazing things. Money is important. But those who truly succeed in life are those who recognise that whilst it has its place, money is not everything! If you chase after money, it will elude you. This is the most basic mistake that so many people make. When you focus on the more important issues of life *and* be intelligent about your handling of money, you will not only prosper, you will maintain an ongoing sense of achievement and fulfillment in life. So, what is more important then money? Let's list a few essential things that money can't buy, issues that money does nothing to help resolve: Class - Money can allow one to have the trappings of wealth, but that person will never rise above their humble (or unsavory as the case may be) beginnings or character. Some would consider a person to be stuck in their social class even if their hard work (or luck - such as lottery or lawsuit winners) provides them the economic means to live a higher quality of life. The 'nature or nurture' discussion applies here. Most Americans still admire the 'self-made man,' though they would say that that such a man or woman who is now wealthy, may present himself or herself as being in a lower class. If anyone tells you the US is a ‘classless’ society, don’t believe it. A simple test is this: Class is definable by recognizing those who don't have it. Prestige - This is the knowledge of what others think about a person. Do they respect her or him? Do they acknowledge his or her achievements as being good, beneficial, or admirable? Prestige also seems to imply a sense-of-self (or self-awareness) that others are acknowledging oneself. Reputation - In its purest form, reputation cannot be bought. One can buy millions of followers on social media but they would all be 'fake' and therefore degrade one's reputation. A company can purchase reviewers to rate their products on Amazon or give great reviews on Yelp, but eventually, through sheer numbers and quality of reviews, the truth will come out. Your reputation is build from the values that you consistently demonstrate; these are the things that stick in people's minds. Sincerity - Groucho Marx highlighted this issue very comically: "The most important thing in life is sincerity and if you can fake that, you got it made!" If someone is engaging another in their native language and they are of the same education level, they can each generally tell when one is being insincere. Factors of sincerity are tone, demeanor, posture, facial expressions, kinetics, and others. Insincerity is a complete turnoff. Also note that caring is similar sincerity, as fraudulent caring is easy to identify. Knowledge and wisdom - These go hand-in-hand in terms of their attainment. Neither can be purchased, however, they are different. The classic learning pyramid has information at its base; on the next level is the synthesis of that information into knowledge — meaning something practical — while at the top is wisdom. This latter one can definitely not be self-acquired through purchase; wisdom comes from all levels of the pyramid working together and implies the application of good judgement. I have heard Nassim Taleb in his book “Antifragile” say that above wisdom is foresight, prediction, which is a very powerful concept. Faux wisdom is as easily debunked as is insincerity. Peace - Having money does not bring you peace of mind. Whilst poverty doesn't do it either (!) it's essential to realise that peace is not produced by wealth. An overflowing wallet does not equal an abundant heart - and peace is a heart matter. DISCOVER PAD'S CRISIS RESOLUTION COURSE ONLINE7 Steps to resolving your personal crisis for good.
